About My Clients

I have worked with the trans and queer community for over three years beginning with my practicum at The Gender Health Center and continuing in my current practice. I am a queer informed narrative therapist who recognizes that many of our problems are deeply influenced by our transphobic and homophobic society. I not only support folks in their exploration of their gender and sexual identities as well as support with untangling the problems put on us by the dominant culture's discourse.

My Background and Approach

I am a queer informed narrative therapist who believes we require less fixing and more untangling from our problem stories. In my practice I come from a place of authenticity and deeply value the alliance that is formed between myself and who I am working with. I am person centered and prioritize the desired outcomes that bring people to see me. I invite people to show up fully as they are and it is my job to provide a safe space where folks can be fully seen, heard, and valued. Life brings bumps and hurdles and I offer myself as a guide to support you through what your personal journey brings--both the messiness and the magic. In my work I draw from narrative therapy, queer theory, feminist theory, compassion based practices, and mindfulness. Most importantly my work is compassionate and empathetic.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I am drawn to queer informed narrative therapy because I believe it is my job to not only acknowledge systemic oppressions but be able to explore how the dominant culture’s narrative has impacted client’s identities. Narrative therapy allows for the deconstruction of internalized stigmas from the dominant culture's which opens up space for empowerment and affirming identity narratives. I also honor the language we use for our experiences and thus am deeply committed to placing emphasis on language and the opportunity to co-create language that fits with client's identity. For many queer folks there are not enough terms to describe their identity or partnerships. In my work client's have created and discovered language for their own experience in a society whose messages devalue and dismiss their humanity.
