We are all living beings, and with that comes change and growth, inevitably we will all come across times when something ends whether that be a loss of some sort, a move, a new opportunity, new relationships, career or even getting older. In counseling, we can discuss what is currently happening in your life, how this is impacting you now and how you are hoping things to be different in the future.
Depression can zap us of energy and joy, making us see life through a narrow field of vision. In utilizing techniques from CBT, we can explore your past experiences and how these shaped your current views, working on challenging these perceptions to help you develop new perspectives that help to lesson the intense feelings of hopelessness that depression can bring.
Anxiety often shows up as excessive worry and over-thinking, not to mention some of the physical symptoms such as chest tightness, sweating, or feeling sick to your stomach. In therapy we can discuss ways to manage those symptoms borrowing from mindfulness and relaxation techniques as well as exploring your fears and worries that may be influencing how you feel.
In describing myself as utilizing eclectic therapy, I usually like to draw from different theories during our conversations depending on what would be the best fit for each individual.
