About My Clients
My background is in integrated primary care, and I have clinical experience in the outpatient setting working with children, adolescents, adults, and families with anxiety disorders, depression, ADHD, behavioral issues, stress management issues, trauma, grief/loss, chronic pain/illness, substance use, parenting skills, relationship issues, self-esteem and adjusting to life transitions.
My Background and Approach
My approach is client-centered, strengths-based and grounded in attachment theory. I practice from a trauma informed lens, antiracist perspective and am LGBTQIA+ affirming therapist. I utilize a biopsychosocialspiritual framework to understand individuals from a whole-person perspective and to provide individualized treatment. Rather than a “one size fits all” approach, I tailor treatment based on the needs and preferences of the client while utilizing evidenced-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Play Therapy, Parent-Child Interaction Therapy, and mindfulness-based strategies. My style of therapy is a combination of providing psychoeducation( particularly on functions of the brain and body), practical coping skills that you can utilize outside of the session, and of course, the space to process past experiences and current stressors.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that a safe, non-judgmental environment in which individuals can experience truly feeling seen, heard, and understood can bring forth the human potential for healing, change, and growth. I believe that all humans have the capacity for growth and change. I do not believe that people are either "good" or "bad", but that "good" and "bad" exists within each of us. I believe that Black lives matter, in land back, and women's, immigrant's, and LGBTQ+ rights. I am committed to continuing to examine my biases and impact of my privilege.
