About My Clients
You are seeking to understand yourself at a deeper level, to connect with yourself and others in a more authentic manner. You may be experiencing some difficulties with relationships, with coming to terms with abuse you may have experienced in your past and how this continues to exert influence over your life—particularly in your relationships. I welcome clients from the LGBTQIA+ communities. I offer a safe and gentle space and believe in an egalitarian model of practice.
My Background and Approach
My life has not necessarily followed a linear path. I have been regarded as “different” by some others during my life. I embrace this “different-ness”; no two people are the same, so why would a therapist utilize one approach across the board and expect clients to “fit” their approach? Does this even make sense? I welcome diversity in all its expressions and utilize approaches that are conducive to healing and helping you to feel safe. The main areas I address with clients in therapy are: anxiety, women who have experienced abusive/traumatic and/or neglectful childhoods (i.e. relational trauma), issues related to food/eating issues & depression. Loss/grief is an unfortunate and inevitable part of life, so this is typically inherent in most therapeutic processes, pet loss included. You are more than your diagnosis. Your diagnosis does not tell me who you are; your life story does. I offer 15” complimentary telephone discussions. I look forward to speaking with you.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My personal beliefs: equality, world peace, racial justice, humanitarianism, sustainability, environmentalism, feminism (too bad this has rec’d such a bad rap—we are not “man-haters”!); you get the idea.... “Not until the sun excludes you do I exclude you.” (Walt Whitman)
