About My Clients
As a non-binary queer person, I am passionate about working with adults/teens in the LGBTQIA+ community. Many come to explore their gender or sexual identity or ways to navigate complex situations (e.g., coming out, discrimination, transition). I provide relationship counseling that is affirming and open to ALL relationships at any stage (premarital, dating, married, complicated, considering separation). I also write WPATH letters of support for gender affirming care (e.g., hormones, surgeries).
My Background and Approach
Coming from a place of collaboration, I welcome you as an equal to share ownership in our process. You are the expert of your own life, and thus hold a wealth of data that is critical to be aware of as we come up with potential solutions. In my role, I offer a blend of support, humor, feedback, resources, and my own insights. Therapy presents a rare gift – a freeing and non-judgmental space to experiment and explore new ways of living and problem-solving. A therapeutic connection can initiate significant insights – understandings that not only can allow you to grow closer to your true self, but also as a result, have more meaningful relationships with others. To best address your needs, therapy is specially tailored to your goals and strengths to foster an environment that is conducive for personal growth and healing.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Given that life is never free of context, I have found it to be crucial to acknowledge how my clients’ lives are not experienced separately from their environment, identities, or histories. Because of this, I remain mindful of how both your unique intersectionalities and my own not only impact the therapeutic process, but also inform our life journeys. My pledge is to create an affirming and compassionate space for ALL of those who have suffered discrimination, rejection, oppression, and marginalization. I utilize a Health at Every Size (HAES) approach, believe Black Lives Matter, and am active in the local LGBTQIA+ community.
