I believe we cannot own ouselves without becoming aware of the world around us. We must be sensitive to the disparities that exist around and among us. The truths of the lives of women and girls must be not only heard, but appreciated and integrated, as we seek healing as a society, as a world, as a Universe. My treatment energies are strength-focused and I seek to help others by bearing witness to the reality of their pain and by walking beside them as they grow and flourish.

As a trauma-informed therapist, I am keenly sensitive to the personal, familial, cultural, and societal damage that is created by trauma. Working at a pace that is comfortable for you, my client, I direct my efforts to clearing a way for you to heal and grow. I listen to you and I understand your experience. I speak with you and I honor your strength. Together, we unravel the damage caused by sexual trauma. I hear you and I follow your lead. I accept that your healing is possible.

As a practitioner of holistic therapy, I see you as an entity comprised of many parts. I tend to think of you not in terms of symptoms but as an integrated being of mind, body, and spirit. I believe that when any aspect of ourself is damaged or ignored, we do not have optimal overall functioning. Working with you, I will seek to understand you as a complex being with a multitude of interpersonal, cultural, familial, and universal experiences. And I will walk with you toward healing.

For over 20 years, I have been working individuals impacted by trauma. PTSD is an insidious group of symptoms that has the potential to shatter lives. In my practice, I direct my energies to helping my clients understand how trauma, especially sexual trauma, has disrupted their developmental paths and left them lost, angry, confused and frightened. I help my clients find their way out of the storm and back to their true selves.

As a proud lesbian member of the Rainbow Family, I know too well the challenges we must face on a daily basis. I listen to my clients talk about the many ways in which they are marginalized multiple times every day, and I understand. Because I listen, I hear my clients angst and growing fears and frustrations. And then, we work together to strengthen our commitment to living free and living proud, and to do so in ways that are self-enhancing, rather than self-destructing. I will stand with you.

In my professional life, I have treated many people who have experienced some form of sexual assault. One of the commom themes I found with my clients is the feeling of invisibility regarding their traumatic experiences. Over time, I have learned that one of my greatest services to these clients has been to bear witness to their pain. Often, it is the acknowledging of the pain of an untold assault, or of a childhood filled with sexual abuse, that opens the door to the start of a healing path.
