You drag yourself to campus to begin the cycle of emptiness: grade papers, attend meetings, be dismissed by colleagues. You share ideas only to be met with condescension or the ideas stolen by Kristen. She makes you want to scream and you want her acceptance. It’s taxing doing the mental gymnastics of saying things the right way to stay on her good side. You’ve done therapy before, but yearned for more. There are a lot of fucked up things in the world that makes it truly hard to trust or open up to others. You’re scared of the risk of trying a new therapist again, yet, toughing it out on your own isn’t making a difference. In fact, you’re finding yourself creeping deeper into the hole of hopelessness. You’re ready for therapy with someone who doesn’t hide behind worksheets. I’m Alison - quirky, passionate, a bit of a dork - and I’m a therapist. My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Addressing the -isms of oppression is required for healing your gaping unhealed emotional wounds. Afterall, how does it not affect you? Everywhere, there is racism, whether that’s the workplace, school, movies, music, you name it. There is ableism, sexism, neurotypical-ism (is that even a word?), fatphobia, trans and homophobia. This world makes it clear that if you’re “different” then there is something wrong with you. I’m here to say that’s bullshit.
