About My Clients
Adolescence can be a confusing and overwhelming time. As youth journey toward their authentic selves, bumps and challenges often emerge. Teens and their loved ones alike can feel exhausted, stuck, frustrated, and alone. Therapy can help build a new story, one where hope, confidence, and warm relationships play the lead. I look forward to working together to build skills, enhance existing strengths, and enrich your relationships - with others and with yourself!
My Background and Approach
I have an extensive background working with youth and families. I received my Masters degree in Social Work from the University of Denver, and I also hold a Bachelors degree in Social Work. As a long-time Gresham-area resident, I am passionate about supporting residents in my community. Throughout my career, I have focused on work with pre-teen and teenage clients and their families. I collaborate with clients to meet you where you are, identify your goals, and respond effectively to your needs. In addition to traditional office-based therapy, I also offer equine-assisted therapy services using the EAGALA model. This unique approach helps clients develop understanding and practice new ways of being through interacting with masters of relationship and mindfulness - horses.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that everyone is the expert on their own life and holds valuable insight to overcome the challenges that they face. I believe that humans heal through relationships, which includes relationships with self, other humans, animals, nature, and our world. I find deep healing in connecting with nature and my pets, and I want to help you find that same sense of belonging - wherever it originates for you. I contribute to organizations that work to reduce mental health stigma and respond to issues that impact all genders, ethnicities and sexual orientations. Though not an expert on issues of racial and systemic oppression, I regularly seek education on this topic, engage in community conversations, and strive to intentionally examine my ways of thinking and being to promote a more just society. I am a queer-identified therapist, and I find deep joy in supporting other members of the LGBTQIA+ community.
