About My Clients

Many of my clients tend to be queer, young adults who have experienced childhood trauma and are prepared to begin the healing journey, or perhaps pickup where they may have previously left off. I also work with queer folks who have had negative, abusive, or toxic experiences within church/religion because of their gender or sexuality. This is certainly not an exclusive list but meant to provide insight into where my passion and expertise lie.

My Background and Approach

I believe that every individual I work with is uniquely shaped and influenced by their story. We all have a different story, which is why I work diligently to cater therapy to fit the unique and individual needs of each of my clients. In doing so, I draw from a variety of therapeutic models and approaches. Therapy can be a challenging process and it is my goal to meet you with compassion, support, and a safe space to help guide you through whatever difficulties or pain you may be experiencing. I strive to provide you with the skills and tools necessary to leave therapy with confidence and resolve. I have worked with many issues in my years as a therapist. I specialize in working with people who have experienced various types of traumatic events, however, my unique area of expertise is working with people impacted by sexual abuse or assault. I am a certified trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapist. I utilize techniques from various other treatment modalities as well.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I am a proud member of the queer community. I am a proud Washingtonian. I am a parent. I am a partner. I have been hurt and negatively impacted by religion and the church community I grew up with but am now am active in a church community that is fully affirming of my identity as a whole. I can empathize and understand the unique dynamics of queer identity and its intersection with faith and religion. I spent several years working primarily with children who were victims of sexual abuse. This is where I found my passion in working with folks who have experienced various traumas. I have a particular soft spot with adults who experienced childhood sexual abuse and perhaps never had an opportunity to discuss, process, or heal from that experience.
