About My Clients
I am more than delighted that you are on your way to taking these first steps on your healing and wellness journey. As a person who is also in therapy, I know firsthand how nerve wracking & challenging the process of seeking the best therapist to meet your needs can be. I have worked with a diverse population of clients with depression, anxiety, trauma, identity development, life transitions, & other needs. I love working with folks in all walks of life, including children and teenagers.
My Background and Approach
I strive to create a safe space for you to be authentically present with your emotions & any struggles you have found difficult to manage alone. I utilize social-justice focused, narrative, trauma-informed, strengths-based, & person-centered theories in practice. I am committed to anti-racist and anti-oppressive practices in my space. I am training to become a Registered Drama Therapist & therefore enjoy integrating the creative & expressive arts into therapy as appropriate & conducive to your level of comfort. I believe we are all artists & that there is healing in play.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that mental health should be approached holistically, & emphasize the intersectionality of all identities--sexuality, gender, race, age, religion, ethnicity, immigration status, etc.--within the therapeutic space. You are bringing a rich array of life experience & strengths to the table. I challenge the inherent power dynamic that exists between therapists & clients. I believe we are all experts of our own lives & experiences. I am always learning, & this is especially true in the counseling relationship. I strive to create a collaborative relationship that responds to your strengths to help in learning skills to cope, process stresses, & empower yourself on your path to healing. I look forward to working with you.
