About My Clients
Many of my clients enter therapy feeling overwhelmed, overloaded, angry, irritable, or anxious. Therapy can help you learn tools to manage these uncomfortable feelings. I have expertise working with clients who would like to learn techniques and strategies for anxiety, trauma symptoms, stress, anger, and depression. I utilize trauma-informed and Evidence-Based Therapy practices. I have additional experience working with children and adults experiencing PTSD or trauma-related symptoms.
My Background and Approach
I was trained as a "Scientist-Practitioner", which means I balance out traditional therapeutic techniques with Evidenced-Based Practices. I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Problem-Solving Techniques, anxiety and stress management, and anger management. I have experience working with children and adolescents using Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I have certified training and experience working with adults who have experienced trauma and are experiencing PTSD symptoms. I enjoy working with people from different cultural backgrounds and hope to keep you engaged in each step of therapy with a client-centered and personalized approach. If you have never met with a therapist, it can be hard to find the right fit for your concerns. I know it's hard to explore your thoughts and feelings with someone new, or anyone at all! I hope to provide a safe place for you, where you will feel validated and respected.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Being a Clinical Psychologist has helped me better understand that life does not always turn out as expected! If you find yourself rushing through life, worried about the "what ifs" or depressed about the past, I have felt this way too. At heart, I am an optimist and always hope that things will turn out for the best, even in our darkest moments. I have also learned to appreciate the small joys in life. What has helped me remain optimistic and fair-minded, is partially related to growing up in a ethnically and socioeconomically diverse community. I have met people from many walks of life, and often find ways to connect with people despite their backgrounds. I also believe that we can all change in a positive way, no matter our age, experiences, or personality! I respect the mind-body connection and value nurturing my emotional and physical health with exploring nature and exercise. I enjoy working with clients who are interested in balancing their emotional and physical wellness.
