About My Clients
My clinical interests include treating depression, anxiety, relationship issues, borderline personality characteristics, and bipolar disorder. I specialize in working with people identifying as LGBTQIA+, first- and second-generation immigrants, and people of color and I understand the unique challenges and perspectives that can come with trying to reconcile one’s identity and culture with the dominant culture-at-large.
My Background and Approach
Before becoming a therapist, I worked in entertainment and education and those experiences informed my decision to become a clinician. I work from a trauma-informed, psychodynamic, and attachment-based approach, with elements of CBT and mindfulness. Together we can help you discover tools to use in your everyday life to help you manage difficult feelings but also, comb through your past and explore your earliest experiences to discover the source of your current pain or challenges. This can be difficult work, but it is incredibly rewarding and ultimately can lead you to a more joyful and fulfilling life. When embarking on this journey of self-discovery, I encourage you to find self-compassion and remember the sage advice of the poet Max Ehrman: “be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here.”
