About My Clients

Consensual non-monogamy (CNM) is inherently countercultural and provides a foundation for partners to be intentional, truthful, and communicative about their specific wants and desires. I try to take what I have learned from CNM and polyamory and apply its unassuming and deliberate nature to all relationship structures, including monogamous relationships. This allows for everyone in partnership to feel they have the freedom to make explicit what does and does not work for them in a relationship.

My Background and Approach

Often, we come to believe that we are not deserving of love and kindness, or that others are not capable of giving these things to us. Therapy provides a connected space for us to explore our needs, desires, and ambitions. When we are given this opportunity to express ourselves and our preferences without judgment, great healing, excitement, and truth can become possible. As your therapist, I will work to meet you exactly where you are in your life. My goal is for clients to leave therapy sessions feeling more competent, resourceful, and emboldened to face change than they felt walking in. I work with individuals, partners, friends, and family to facilitate healthy and connected turning points in relationships.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I have been involved in polyamory & consensual non-monogamy in my personal life, and have experienced firsthand the complexities of being in relationship in a way which is non-conforming to social expectations. Clients who are interested in, or have been polyamorous/non-monogamous for some time often feel they need therapy which validates and appreciates their unique approach to relationships and relational structures. Similarly, many queer, bisexual, and pansexual people have desires for relationships which are misunderstood and/or marginalized in mainstream U.S. culture. Working with a therapist who fundamentally believes in the beauty and reality of diverse relational approaches and structures allows clients to feel they can work towards their own best-case scenarios and deepest desires.
