I help young adults and adults heal wounds from their childhood related to strained relationships with their parents.
Clinical Psychologist in New York, NY
Most of my clients come in with anxiety or depression. Both depression and anxiety are a signal that there are underlying feelings that are trying to come to the surface. Part of my training has involved knowing how to get past symptoms to support you to have feelings that are difficult to have alone! You will learn to understand depression and anxiety in a new light, and you will have a whole new experience of your own thoughts, feelings, and personal narrative with me by your side.
Parenting is challenging to the extreme! It can lead people to feeling depleted, lonely, and even depressed. It was never meant to be a job that we do in isolation. As a clinical psychologist and mother of two, I draw on my experience to help parents heal from past childhood wounds, understand what is hindering their effectiveness as parents, receive the emotional support they need, and then learn easy tools to employ immediately to improve their relationship with their children.
Emotional eating is a behavior that people engage in to cope with life stress and challenging feelings. The good news is that every time you are tempted to emotionally eat, your body is signalling you that you need another kind of attention. The only problem is that, on your own, it is so hard to pause before eating and pay attention to the feelings that want to surface. I would be honored to meet you there, right at that moment to support your unfolding story.
I use EMDR to work intensively with your childhood wounds and past trauma. Through EMDR we are able to work on the nervous system level to revisit and finally let go of mal-adaptive thought patterns, old emotions and physical sensations and experiences associated with the past.
I teach you about emotions and how to identify the ones that give you golden nuggets of information, from the ones that distract you into an unhealthy pattern of shame and guilt. Also, we go back in time with inner allies and revisit old memories, only to experience them in a new light. Your therapy is experiential and memorable as a result of these tools.
