I specialize in helping black and brown men and women move from survival mode to thriving. Behaviors that started as means of protection are now getting in the way of our finances, relationships, and spiritual lives. Together we will increase your insight and self-awareness, through self-exploration. We will build practical tools to create healthier behaviors and live your authentic life.
My Background and Approach
With over 10 years of experience, I take a holistic and integrative approach to healing. I will not only address your psyche but your body, heart, and spirit. Trauma recovery is about aligning our bodies, thoughts, feelings, and values to create new behavior patterns. In addition to examining our eating /sleeping/exercise habits, I will incorporate principles of Gestalt, mindful based-CBT, and psychodynamic therapies. In a session, this will look like this: when talking about a concern or issue, inquiring about body movement changes, encouraging curiosity about any messages the body may be sending, and utilizing tools such as deep breathing to then process our thoughts and make informed decisions moving forward.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
It is my strongest belief you were born with everything you will need to live authentically. Therapy is not about "fixing" anything as much as it is about unlearning what others and life made us. It is about discovering the "why" and becoming intentional with the "so what now".
