About My Clients
I love working with adolescents, teens, and adults centered around coping skills, communication, and connection with others. I provide mental health and addiction counseling and therapy for teens (12+) and adults to help with: Brainspotting, Trauma, Identity development, Parent-child conflict, Co-parenting, Sibling support for the sibling who’s not in crisis, School attendance and struggles, Bullying, Conflict resolution, Anxiety, Depression, ADD/ADHD, and Life Skills.
My Background and Approach
The center of my work has been rooted in communication, belonging, and connection. Communicating needs and communicating with those around you can be incredibly difficult. That can impede your sense of belonging and connection. Trauma is another block for belonging and connection. Exploring the pain of the past and/or current circumstances can open opportunities for relating to others. So many people walk around the world, thinking they’re the only ones who’ve experienced that pain. Bridging those gaps and being able to get your needs met, can unlock a world that seemed impossible to reach. Parenting and working with youth who’re struggling is a passion and a core of the work I have done. Whether you’re the parent, the teen, or the sibling of that struggling individual, there’s pain and confusion. Exploring that pain can open the door for reconnection with yourself and others.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
The brain is a beautiful, strong, and adaptive part of the human body. Through that ability of growth of the brain, we are able to overcome and access hope that once seemed so distant. As a teen, I lost someone very dear to me. Being only a teenager, I couldn’t process that loss and didn’t understand the darkness within the world. That pain led me to the career of social work. I wanted to help others find hope and learn to adapt and overcome their challenges. Talk therapy isn’t for everyone. I’ve found my own healing through horses, volleyball, and other sports, playing in the creek, and sitting in my garden. I invite you on a journey of self-exploration and healing. Let’s explore ways to heal from unexpected changes, losses, family conflict, and/or struggles to connect with others.
