Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Los Angeles, CA
I have worked extensively with survivors of partner abuse, dating violence, stalking, and children, teens, and adult's who witnessed family violence. Some people may seek support in reducing harm in an abusive relationship, staying safe in leaving abuse, healing from past abuse, or finding intimacy after past abuse. I have also worked extensively with LGBTQ+ survivors of partner abuse, and am keenly aware of the barriers, stigma, and silence of LGBTQ+ partner abuse.
Navigating the rapid changes of adolescence is challenging for young people and their caregivers. When a teen is struggling, it can become a source of daily fear and stress for all parties. I have worked with teens and their families for over 6 years and I am passionate about supporting teenagers through challenges related to identity, social relationships, substance use and risky behavior, depression, self-harm, anxiety, trauma, and suicidal thoughts.
PTSD is the response of our human bodies and brains to the all too prevalent experiences of abuse, violence, oppression, and chronic stress that surrounds us today. Traumatic-stress responses can feel bewildering, shameful, and hopelessly engrained, but can actually be healed in life-transforming ways. I have been successfully treating PTSD using EMDR and other means for several years; I hope all who suspect past trauma may be impacting them find ways to access their innate capacity to heal.
Providing affirming and relevant mental health care and therapy to LGBTQ+ populations has been foundational to my training and practice of therapy. Some people come to therapy specifically to explore or address aspects of their gender or sexual orientation, and other LGBTQ people may come to therapy to address a whole range of life issues and want a provider who they don't need to educate about their identities. I support clients coming to therapy with either, or a mix of both, of these goals.
