About My Clients
My clients are women who struggle to take up space in their own life. Sometimes that shows up as perfectionism or other anxiety, body image struggles, difficulty managing stress, or experiencing an overall dissatisfaction with life. Women who have been carrying heavy things, or who have lost self-connection are some of my favorite people to work with. I do my best work with folks who are open to learning about themselves, trying out some new perspectives or skills, and show up fully in session.
My Background and Approach
Throughout my 15 years of practice, I've had intensive training and consultation in at least 5 evidence based modalities. I often use EMDR to help clients overcome trauma. The most valuable thing I've learned, though, is the importance of combining skills learned from each of them into an approach that works best for YOU. I find that collaborating with clients in ways that they respond well to is far more important than adhering rigidly to a specific model of treatment. Generally, we begin by nailing down some great skills to use to manage or cope with whatever brings you in for therapy. Once you've got those down and are feeling ready, we dive a little deeper and try to understand and heal whatever the root is underlying those symptoms. It's hard work, but creates so much progress and healing - and I'm here to support you all the way through.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe strongly that all wellness begins with a strong sense of connection to ourselves, as well as radical self-compassion. My work is based on the fundamental belief that all humans (this includes YOU) have inherent dignity and worth. This means two things: 1) Discrimination based on race, body size, sexuality, etc. has no place in my practice and 2) Our work isn't done until you believe in your worth, too.
