About My Clients
I particularly enjoy helping young couples learn how to feel closer. Couples also struggle with the challenges that arise when one person has ADHD, Asperger's, or limited emotional expression. Adults may also feel like they didn't quite get "enough" as children, or that they are in some ways not "good enough" themselves, not lovable enough or special enough to form the friendships and relationships they want. I am passionate about helping people see themselves in new, more positive ways.
My Background and Approach
My goal is to give you the experiences and tools that you need to move forward. I believe the foundation of all therapeutic work is your sense of feeling safe, listened to, understood and cared about during sessions. When that empathic connection has been established, we can explore together the stories, patterns and beliefs that contribute to your difficulties. I encourage a lot of back and forth between us in sessions. The therapy relationship between you and I can provide insights into how you interact with yourself, others and the world at large. I use short-term, solution focused and long-term treatment models. I am a Certified Emotionally Focused Couples Therapist; at least half my practice focuses on helping couples strengthen their connection with each other. My undergraduate degree is from Yale; I received my doctorate from CA School of Professional Psychology/Alliant International University. I am a Bay Area native.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I welcome people of all colors, ethnicities, spiritual and religious orientations, gender and sexual orientations into my practice. I actively seek knowledge about white privilege and am a life long feminist. I am an ally for LGBTQ people.
