About My Clients

You're ready to leave the religion or religious community you were raised in, but you are struggling to feel confident in this decision. Deep down you know you need a change, but you find yourself stuck in feeling anxious and guilty. You're afraid to tell your parents, friends, or spouse about your decision for fear of how they will respond. I want to help you find the confidence, self-worth, and boundaries you need to get unstuck!

My Background and Approach

My therapy approach is aimed at helping you let go of past mistakes, guilt, and difficult experiences, build a soothing and kinder inner voice, and create a life worth living. I'm a collaborative, engaged therapist and love taking feedback on what you want out of our work together. Credentials-wise, I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional. My undergraduate degree is from Rice University and my master's degree is from University of Houston. I have advanced training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.

My Values as a Therapist

I was raised Catholic and I'm currently non-religious. I love helping people who want to embrace life after high control religion - whether that's finding a new spiritual community or practice, or naming that you no longer want to follow any belief system. I am a proud intersectional feminist and vocal ally of the LGBTQ+ community, and these beliefs inform my work with you. Those of us who were raised in strict religious environments sometimes have a little extra work to do to unlearn the harmful beliefs we were taught about gender roles and identity, sexuality, and inclusivity in general. Yet we also may be perfectionistic and struggle with internal shame, which can be a barrier to learning and growing. I want to help you if you hold shame and guilt around some of the harmful beliefs you once were taught, or if you might benefit from your own exploration of gender and sexual orientation that you may have missed out on in your former oppressive environment.
