About My Clients
I love working with people who are leaving a religion, people who are choosing not to have children, and people who are questioning diet culture and accepting their body as it is. The common thread among many of my clients choosing these paths is a struggle to set boundaries, move past guilt, and create more authentic relationships and a more authentic life path. My clients often care a lot about others and doing the right thing, and need a little help recognizing what they want and need.
My Background and Approach
My therapy approach is aimed at helping you let go of past mistakes, guilt, and difficult experiences, build a soothing and kinder inner voice, and create a life worth living. I'm a collaborative, engaged therapist and love taking feedback on what you want out of our work together. Credentials-wise, I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional. My undergraduate degree is from Rice University and my graduate degree is from University of Houston. I have advanced training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.
My Values as a Therapist
I am a former good little Catholic girl from a mostly White neighborhood in Memphis, TN who grew up and decided to challenge many of the things I was told about how the world works and how I'm supposed to act. In my journey to being more honest and authentic, I've learned to embrace feminism, challenge racist viewpoints that I grew up hearing, and explore what life can look like when we decide we don't have to continue systems that are harming people and destroying our planet just because that's how we've always done things. I'm particularly passionate about helping people navigate unconventional paths such as leaving religion, choosing not to have children, or challenging diet culture and fatphobia. I also care a lot about supporting LGBTQ+ rights, affirming neurodiversity, and building better systems that prevent burnout among my colleagues in the mental health and healthcare fields.
