About My Clients

Throughout the course of my career thus far I have had the pleasure of working with individuals across the life span. What this means is that I see children all the way through adulthood. I have assisted children and adults who are struggling with ailments such as anxiety, self esteem, abuse. obsessive compulsive disorder, depression, identity, relational stress, behavioral problems, and trauma. I utilize CBT, DBT, and ACT with my adult clients and integrative play therapy with my child clients.

My Background and Approach

Before private practice, I worked in higher level treatment settings for patients of all ages who have severe OCD, anxiety disorders, and eating disorders. In addition, I have provided direct counseling to a wide array of ages to those who have experienced extensive trauma within a domestic violence and sexual assault agency. I employ the modalities of CBT, DBT, and ACT. What this means is that we focus on the entanglement between our thoughts, behaviors, and emotions as well as how to live accepting uncertainty, struggles, and discomfort. These modalities also strive for a life in line with the client’s values using therapeutic tools to get us there. Through play, my child clients are given the opportunity to explore and regulate their emotions, stimulate creative discovery, and redirect inappropriate behavior. One of the biggest benefits of this therapy is that child clients are able to play out life experiences in a safe environment which allows them to better understand and cope.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

With modern technology, we have learned the incredible skill the brain has within neuroplasticity. Neuroplasticity refers to the brains ability to change over time as a response to what we experience and learn. What this means is that we have all of the power to change our lives, thoughts, patterns of behavior, and so on with the right guidance and support. This is what is so extremely exciting about therapy! I believe if we allow ourselves to push beyond our comfort zone, we have the ability to transcend to places of wellness we didn't before believe possible. After being a client myself, I've been fascinated by the ways in which a therapeutic relationship and specific interventions can truly transform someone’s life.  My goal in working with anyone is to have them end therapy feeling seen, more empowered, better functioning, and overall happier. Being able to facilitate the therapeutic process in which changed my life, is one of the greatest joys, passions, and purpose of my life.
