About My Clients
What if there were a way to feel better, communicate differently, and get your needs met? I specialize in helping couples, adolescents, and adults find a safe place to work through problems, changes, grief, and depression, without fear of judgment. There is hope for healing. Whether you're a parent of a child with special needs, an adolescent who's being bullied, a couple stuck in the same old argument, or a person who's recently experienced a great loss, I'm here to help.
My Background and Approach
I earned my Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis in Health Psychology from Santa Clara University. Under the tutelage of experts in the fields of cognitive-behavioral science, mindfulness, and trauma treatment, I developed a thorough understanding of the whole person, including the importance of the mind-body connection. In my undergraduate psychology program at San Jose State University, I studied neuroscience, perception, and cognition. I have traveled extensively in search of cultural understanding and have worked with people from a wide variety of perspectives, ethnicities, and physical abilities. My professional background includes business management, corporate staffing, and children’s ministry. In my personal life, I have walked alongside people who have experienced great loss as well as great joy. My overarching desire is to use all that I have learned for your benefit; to help you live your best life. Let's see if we're a good fit.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that every person is created in the image of God. As such, every person is deserving of respect, dignity, empathy, and compassion. As a Christian therapist, I do not think that the counseling process should be a mystery. Therefore, I work collaboratively with my clients to determine their goals, while supporting my clients' sense of agency, resilience, and self-efficacy. My volunteer experience has included work with: ABC Project Cornerstone (taught bullying prevention, promoted diversity); CityTeam (worked alongside addicts in recovery to serve homeless population); 1040i (worked alongside former street workers in rudimentary bakery in North Africa); Parents Helping Parents (supported parents of children with special needs) Project Hired (advocated for employment opportunities for clients with disabilities, including those from the deaf community, by offering insight to business leaders); & Global Ischemia Foundation (assisted a patient with a traumatic brain injury).
