About My Clients
Has something gotten in the way of satisfying connections? When our relationships suffer, so do we as individuals. Ascending Self is a safe place where we will navigate the difficulties of your relationship(s) and discover solutions while caring for you and your needs. I provide my clients the highest quality of professional help for couples, family, and individual therapeutic needs. I meet my clients where they are, and help them make the change to revive or discover satisfying relationships.
My Background and Approach
As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I serve my clients with evidence-based methods such as ACT Therapy, The Gottman Method, Internal Family Systems, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, and Psychodynamic work. I have been helping clients through my private practice since 2012. My journey began with families in the foster care system while an undergraduate at UT Knoxville. I helped develop a wilderness element to the program, connecting my love for the mountains with mental health. I continued this course after completing the Appalachian trail, and discovering wilderness therapy. After years of practice in the field, I continued my education, attaining my Masters in Marriage and Family therapy. I returned to Utah to join a therapeutic boarding school, combining adventure with therapeutic interventions. My spirit for adventure remains as does my passion for helping couples, families, and individuals in mental/emotional difficulties and crisis.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Born and raised in Knoxville Tennessee, I retain my love for family and for God. With a passion for understanding science and philosophy, I'm never bored. Having balanced my undergraduate studies between psychology and religion, I never flench from a contemplation of the divine, evolution, the cosmos, or spirituality. I would define my beliefs as existential and humanitarian, with a sincere acceptance for every client I've encountered through my career. While my love continues to grow for my wife and my faith, so does my adoration and respect for anyone who engages real work with me in my practice.
