Suicidality is the ultimate giving up and hopelessness. It is, at its core, a failure to be able to solve problems. Suicidal thoughts are like a muscle. The more you exercise them, the stronger they become. I work with my clients to create a plan to help keep them safe, and then go deeper to find the root causes that have lead to such acute distress. You can feel better and your life can be better.
Anxiety is an adaptive response to things in your life you need to worry about, but sometimes, that worry can take over your life and actually make it harder to solve your problems. By learning coping techniques to calm your anxiety and rethinking the things you are anxious about, you can get your mind under control.
Depression is the most common mental health disorder, affecting 15-20% of people at some point in their lives. Treating depression involves learning how to make changes in your life to get to where you want to go, and restructuring the thoughts that lead to you feeling down. Depression is a self-sustaining disorder. It will do everything it can to keep you feeling down, and the way out is to learn to fight back.
A key way of helping you become more motivated to make changes, especially substance use, and how to start making those changes. I received additional training for this both in school and professionally, and I practice it regularly.
