About My Clients

I enjoy working with youth and families who are working hard to establish their roles and identities in a confusing world both as individuals and within their family units. I enjoy working with individuals of all socioeconomic classes and specialize in parent child conflict, LGBTQA+ identity issues, and use a social justice lens in my work.

My Background and Approach

My training is largely systemic in nature as I have a Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from St. Mary's University. I often view cases through a lens of attachment, trauma, and social context unique to the individuals seeking treatment. I use a lot of Motivational Interviewing in my work with clients allowing space for them to process through their obstacles, utilizing their unique insights to steer them. My best work is done under pressure and in times of crisis as most of my work has been in the area of crisis stabilization and risk mitigation. I have done a range of work including in home services for parenting support, therapy services for youth, adults, and families, mobile county crisis work in homes and in the community, inpatient hospital work, conducted mental health assessments in the Emergency Department, and have recently returned to doing outpatient therapy. I use a trauma informed lens and have completed training in EMDR.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that people are born good and are driven by nature to become their best selves, but along the way can get derailed by trauma, life circumstances, or other barriers. Further, when we feel as if we are living a life incongruent to our values/beliefs internal distress may be experienced. Transitions can be scary but are often necessary to foster personal growth and development. How we handle these transitions is our choice. I believe identifying personal strengths that are unique to each individual paired with succinctly defining our values is key to the pursuit of change. I enjoy the arts and creative ways of looking at people and society. I use a lot of my arts background in my work with clients. I believe that authenticity in both clinician and client is important. I bring that to the table through humor and expression. What do you bring?
