About My Clients
The clients I work with are diverse. My work with children often includes engaging in play-based interventions as well as integrating the larger family unit into treatment. When engaging with older clients, I assist them by coming into contact with parts of themselves to ultimately identify and pursue their goals. My clients benefit from various therapeutic approaches to gain insight and awareness about their present selves from their past experiences and relationships.
My Background and Approach
Following my time in the Singapore Armed Forces Medical Corps, I had the opportunity to provide psychological services in various settings including hospitals, schools, universities, community mental health clinics, and private practice. While completing my APA accredited internship, I served individuals exposed to significant trauma. Following this training, I benefitted from a two year training in psychoanalytic techniques. I continue to draw on my various training experiences when providing psychotherapy and assessment to develop a robust understanding of my clients while also collaborating with them to determine a tailored treatment approach.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My upbringing in South East Asia and exposure to the stigma and limited resources of mental health have heavily contributed to my work as a clinical psychologist today. While I am largely based in California, I continue to interface with South East Asian professionals and clients today with hopes to contribute toward growing mental health awareness there. My clinical practice is devoted to acknowledging and embracing individuals, couples, and families from all walks of life, identity and viewpoints.
