About My Clients
My ultimate goal is to provide an open and supportive space to allow my clients to explore whatever they need to in order to achieve their desired goals. My experience is with individuals and families who suffer from trauma, attachment, behavioral issues, relationship issues or difficult life transitions. I believe everyone has the potential to rise up and become who they truly want to be. I enjoy walking with my clients through that journey.
My Background and Approach
My approach to counseling has always been from a Humanistic and Existential perspective. I believe a lot of what holds us back is anxiety and fear of our past experiences and current narratives of life. I have extensive training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Existential and Gestalt theory, Family Systems and Trauma Based practices. I am a certified Trauma Informed Care Trainer through the Texas Juvenile Justice Department and I continue to learn and educate in trauma and how it affects us. I also conduct trainings on Suicide Prevention, Mental Health and Adolescent Development within the Juvenile Justice System. I also presented at the 2015 Texas Counseling Association Conference with two colleagues on the social justice topic, “Girl Incarcerated: The Role of Trauma in Justice-Involved Girl Delinquency and Rehabilitation”.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe we all have it in us to Rise Up and become the best versions of ourselves. I am a huge advocate for at-risk populations, social justice and inclusion. I believe everyone has their own life story and I hope to be non-judgmental and accepting to make the therapy space safe and inviting. Our best work is done when we feel supported and I only hope the give my clients the opportunity to achieve that and grow.
