I have a post-graduate degree in Gestalt Therapy. In Gestalt Therapy, we try to focus on the here and now. We may go back to difficult childhood experiences if they are affecting and impinging on your present life. Gestalt teaches body awareness and is experiential in nature. We try to help clients experience what they are saying rather than just tell a story. Where do you feel that emotion in your body and what color is it? What shape does it have? If it had a voice, what would it say?
EMDR helps to uncover and unlock trauma that gets stuck in the body. Through bilateral stimulation that can be visual, auditory or kinisthetic, we help clients process trauma that has been locked away and therefore hidden and unavailable for processing up until this moment. By unlocking the trauma and helping the client process the it in a safe environment, the trauma gets neutralized and the person becomes free of the pain that they have been suffering from due to the trauma.
If you suffer from depression, together we can work to discover what is causing your symptoms and figure what treatment(s) are best suited to alleviate them. Not all depression is caused by experiences or life circumstance. There are different causes for depression and while some are situational, others are not. In the case of the later, you may have a pre-disposition toward depression, but both types of depression are absolutely treatable. You don't have to suffer in silence.
There are many types of anxiety. Depending on your specific symptoms, we can determine which type of anxiety that you are experiencing and come up with a treatment plan that is tailored just for you. Whether your anxiety stems from a certain event or events or it is just something that you always remember having, I feel certain that we can develop coping strategies and skills to help combat these often debilitating symptoms. Being a teen was a really tough time in my life and so I have a real affinity for teens and the struggles that they experience. I love helping teens with the different types of issues that they face like identity, independence, relationships with family, friends and partners.
