About My Clients
I work with depression & anxiety, perinatal/postpartum mood disorders, trauma of all kinds, disassociation, teens (especially girls and lgbtq+), cancer / chronic illness / caregiving. I know that humans don't neatly fit in categories and your complex story doesn't involve just a list. I also believe the most important part of therapy is a good connection with your therapist - let's explore whether we are a good fit, together.
My Background and Approach
I hold a Master's in Social Work and a Graduate Certificate in Gerontology. What this means for you is that as a therapist I consider all of the systems that make your life complicated and social justice and feminism are important frameworks for me. I am trained in EMDR, which is often associated with PTSD and trauma, but can be helpful for anyone who holds negative beliefs about themselves that keep them from living the life they want. I am Postpartum Support International (PSI) trained in Perinatal Mood Disorders. I am passionate about supporting parents. My approach has an acceptance and commitment bent, with a heavy focus on attachment and trauma, while being fluid, open, and validating. Ultimately - you are the expert on your life, and I am a part of the collaborative process for you to get to where you want to be.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am LGBTQ + affirming, social justice -oriented, anti-racist. Building community is important to me and as such, I am an active board member for my local food cooperative and Athens Parent Wellbeing - a non-profit that supports parents mental health. I am also passionate about talking about the hard things - as such, I am a founder and facilitator of the first Death Cafe in my hometown.
