About My Clients
My clients are looking to make specific changes in their lives and want an interactive therapist to help provide insight, as well as specific tools and strategies for coping and, ideally, transformation. I frequently work with people around boundaries, trauma, anxiety and depression, relationship concerns, life transitions, and issues related to chronic pain and illness.
My Background and Approach
I have extensive experience working with clients recovering from sexual and physical trauma and coping with anxiety, chronic pain, and comorbid health conditions. I also have experience in couples therapy, dyadic therapy between young children and parents, internal family systems therapy, child play therapy, and neuro-psychological evaluations with adults. I completed my APA-accredited internship with the Integrated Health Psychology Training Program, with a specialty in chronic pain management. I earned undergraduate degrees in Literature and Psychology from the College of William and Mary, with an emphasis on Gender Studies, as well as a Master of Science in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from University College London. Subsequently, I earned my M.A. and Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from The Wright Institute in Berkeley.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe all people deserve high quality mental health care, and HeartWork Psychology's mission is to promote well-being through compassionate and evidence-based therapy and assessment. I am particularly passionate about making mental health care accessible to previously underserved communities and populations.
