My Background and Approach
Our practice specializes in working with trauma and attachment challenges: In adults this may look like challenging related to early childhood experiences, finding yourself in repeated unhealthy relationships, or struggling to commit to a relationship or to be without one. We can help you gain self-compassion and be able to find and maintain healthy relationships. In children this often looks like "oppositional defiant" behavior, struggles with managing emotions, anxiety, and depression. We also specialize in working with challenges related to foster care and adoption and helping families form strong bonds. Our therapists are trained in a variety of treatments including EMDR, Internal Family Systems, AEDP, psychodynamic therapy, play therapy, sand tray therapy. and others.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
We specialize in working with folks who are looking for more than short term solutions. We help you get to the root of your problems and uncover and heal the traumas that have contributed to present day challenges. We deeply believe that there is nothing wrong with you and that every single behavior is adaptive and was learned as a survival skill, even if it causes problems in present day life. We strive to be a LGBTQ affirming, anti-racist, anti-oppressive practice.
