I help people heal from trauma and ex-cult experiences. I see veterans through The Headstrong Project. A wellness-focused approach is best suited for those who are ready to engage in deeper work. My Background and Approach
I care about "what happened to you" and I strive to provide a supportive space for you to share your concerns. Effective work can result in your improved ability to function and to pursue your best life. I offer acceptance without judgment, practical tools, constructive education and a conviction that you are capable! I have facilitated healing in many settings: military and civilian substance abuse treatment (adults and teens), in-home therapy, crisis center, inpatient trauma treatment, outpatient group treatment and private practice. I have over 20 years experience helping others find self-compassion and joy for life. I am fully trained to use EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), SoulCollage(r), Trauma-Informed Cognitive Work, Somatic Awareness Exercises and many more modalities. All these tools are important and useful, but what is most important is the therapeutic relationship that develops. *Please be aware I am not an Medicaid or Medicare provider.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Out of my own personal experiences I have developed the compassion needed for difficult work. I believe that every person deserves their best life, regardless of the past, and that every person is capable of finding what works for them. I offer support without judgement with understanding about what it takes to move forward. I have dealt with my own anxiety and depression stemming from less than ideal family circumstances. I have done my own work. In addition, I was a member of a rigid religious belief system for the first 26 years of my adult life. I know people can grow because I did, after I received education about my situation. At the same time, I am respectful of other's beliefs and know that I have no right to dictate what they 'should' or 'shouldn't' do.
