About My Clients
My work with clients is personal, vulnerable, and collaborative. My clients know I am invested in them and their work. They know they can count on me to be real with them. They know I offer them support and honesty from a place of authenticity and empathy. I don't pretend to have all the answers. Together we work as a team to better understand your emotions and help you cope with life's stressors.
My Background and Approach
I draw from a variety of different theories to meet you where you're at. I am passionate about attachment theory which looks at how our childhood and backgrounds impact our relationships styles. Knowing your attachment style can help you better your relationships and attract the kind of relationship you desire. I am also passionate about Gottman method couples therapy. As a level 1 trained therapist, I use this when working with both couples and individuals to help educate on how to cultivate more meaning in our relationships.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Unfortunately, most of use are not taught how to cope with our emotions. We are taught to hide our negative emotions and we therefore begin to deny their existence. We are asked to put on a brave face and show our success to the world while hiding our failings. Most of us develop into perfectionists and suffer from imposter syndrome. This kind of thinking leads to us feeling out of control, alone and incapable of handling life's stressors at times. This may also lead us to believe that asking for help is a sign of weakness. The truth is that being a human is hard and asking for help is a source of strength. I believe we all need a supportive, understanding and nonjudgemental space to explore difficult emotions, learn how to express them, and find out who we are. I provide my clients with the space to explore their deepest thoughts, learn self-love and gain the confidence to truly be themselves.
