About My Clients
Whether you are looking to restart treatment or this is your first time seeking support taking this first step can bring up a lot of thoughts and feelings that are uncomfortable as well as some confusion on where to start. Our starting point will be dependent on you and we will explore at your pace. I believe that in every challenging moment in life lies the opportunity for change. Change can often be scary and/or difficult however necessary to achieve inner peace.
My Background and Approach
I have extensive a background in individual, couple and family work addressing addiction issues, complex trauma and anxiety and depression. I obtained my Master's Degree from Adelphi University in 2006 and started my work in private practice work in 2009. From 2001 to 2017 I have also worked i the non-profit sector with children in families involved int he foster care system and formerly homeless adults with persistent mental illness diagnoses. I have obtained post graduate training in addictions, divorce mediation, cognitive behavior therapy, cognitive processing therapy, emotionally focused therapy and trauma sensitive yoga.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
The world we lives in today has become unpredictable and sometimes uncomfortable. I am passionate about creating a safe space within the physical space we work in as well as within our relationship for you to open up and explore in regards to your sense of self and how you fit in within our community. I am passionate about mental health, equality, tolerance and the basic value of kindness.
