I'm a Brainspotting professional licensed in MS and TN. Deep background in the treatment of trauma and accessing creativity.
Licensed Professional Counselor in Oxford, MS
Even before I became a therapist, my personal family recovery taught me the power of intervening on cycles of abuse/neglect and misinformation. Brainspotting and Internal Family Systems therapy are powerful healing modalities to address childhood trauma, even if it goes back many generations.
It has been especially gratifying to me over the years to be a helper to fellow helpers. Whether you are a counselor, medical professional, firefighter/EMT or other first responder, a pastor or other person on the front lines of human suffering, if would be my honor to support you in relieving the burdens you carry and gaining some tools to prevent such fatigue in the future.
Spirituality is best understood as our sense of being fully human, experiencing ourselves as a part of life, not an object in isolation. Healthy spirituality doesn't require a theistic understanding, and having a theistic understanding doesn't guarantee us feeling fully human. I am a respectful and knowledgable therapist for those not interested in religion, religious minorities, AND those who seek a more meaningful connection to their own mainstream religion.
I'm very grateful that Dr. Richard Schwartz came along and hugely upgraded the "inner child work" that many of us had been doing for decades. IFS tools allow us to work with immediacy to address what's happening and provide relief.
Overcoming our very human tendency to grasp at pleasure and avoid what's unpleasant is at the core of our work together in therapy. Fortunately, contemplative therapy also allows us to access tools available in your very own heart/mind to make that work less tedious and more meaningful.
I was first trained in 2013, and my respect for this method of working only grows the more I use it. As a contemplative therapist, I experience Brainspotting as a very specific and targeted mindfulness practice. As such, it's a natural tool for resolving trauma and accessing creativity in contemplative therapy. I enjoy working with it because it's very precise and relatively gentle when compared with other modalities, though the results are most powerful.
