Unconsciously, unresolved trauma that our ancestors and previous generations (our parents, grandparent's, etc.) have experienced gets passed down to us when the trauma they have experienced on a systematic, racial, economic and social level have not been addressed. A lack of awareness about the trauma and stigma related to getting treatment are common reasons why IT is not frequently addressed. Together we will resolve this historic trauma to help you truly move on from your past.

Trauma can be explained as a really life changing experience that is distressing and disturbing. Trauma can be micro or macro. Macro traumas impact people on a large scale: Natural disasters, genocides, seeing the death of abuse of family/strangers, experiencing abuse personally, gang violence, etc. Micro traumas impact people on a smaller scale: criticism, bullying, neglect, financial hardships, breakups, etc. EMDR aims to help individuals reprocess any type of trauma.

Nearly 7 percent of the American population of adults, as many as 16 million people, experience clinical depression in any given year. Around the world, nearly 350 million people will struggle with depression each year. More women are diagnosed with depression than men, and while the average age that symptoms are seen is 32, young people and the elderly also live with depression. When trauma is addressed, depression is deceased.

I am a trained EMDR therapist, currently working towards becoming certified in EMDR. I have worked with people that have experienced high levels of dissociation as a result of complex, macro trauma, addictions, depression, anxiety, and panic disorders. Throughout my EMDR training I had the opportunity to experience EMDR first hand, and can say, in my opinion, many of my personal trauma was quickly and easily resolved, without prolonged therapy sessions and needing to discuss my trauma in detail.

PTSD can occur after we experience a terrifying event that causes us to feel afraid, alone, and at times, as if we are seeing ourselves outside of our bodies. Trauma can be macro (experiencing natural disasters, genocide, loss of a loved one, gang violence, medical issues, witnessing or experiencing abuse, experiencing abuse first hand, etc.) Trauma can also be micro (experiencing job loss, bullying, financial hardships, parenting stress, daily stress, etc.) EMDR seeks to address all trauma.
