About My Clients
Being human is hard. Therapy is a place to unpack some of what makes being human feel so hard, in a non-judgmental, validating and supportive therapeutic relationship. Much of my work is with children, adolescents and parents who have experienced trauma.
My Background and Approach
Credentials are important (I have a Masters in Social Work and am Licensed by the state of California) but experience is crucial! I have worked in a variety of settings with a wonderfully diverse clientele. I strive to be client-centered which means that I believe in your autonomy and that you are inherently worthy of respect. I won't tell you what to do or how to live your life. Instead, we will explore the why, what and how of making choices that benefit your mental well-being. My approach is rooted in Attachment Theory which means that our earliest connections in life impact our neurobiology and influence how we feel and act in relationships. There is no perfect attachment - most of us did not get parented by people with perfect mental health! I am also trained in Internal Family Systems and find this integrative approach of "going within" and getting to know all the parts that make us who we are, is effective in helping folx address a variety of symptoms.
