About My Clients

I work primarily with teens and young adults who may be struggling with the many transitions that occur during this phase of life, especially if you are making sense of bad experiences or broken relationships from childhood. This confusion can show up in different ways. You might feel anxious, depressed, or angry, isolate yourself from others, or argue with family. Sometimes you might experience voices, visions, or beliefs that others think are strange. You are not alone in these experiences.

My Background and Approach

My goal in our work together is to help you make sense of your experiences, understand where they are coming from, and find ways to address those needs that work better for you. I believe that our relationships with others are one of our greatest sources of strength and resilience, so part of my approach will be to help you repair and strengthen those relationships if needed. I aim to help you uncover your inner strengths and coping abilities, while also providing some concrete tools for managing your stress, anxiety, and depression. I believe that our relationships with others are one of our greatest sources of strength and resilience. I practice trauma-informed, systemic therapy. Other therapeutic lenses I find helpful are existential, narrative, and somatic (mind-body) approaches.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I strongly believe that social inequality, poverty, discrimination, and oppression are some of the worst causes of mental health problems. I am a supporter of systemic mental health change because I do not think people should be blamed or labeled "sick" for trying to survive the world we live in. I am an advocate for racial and gender equity and regularly take courses and training in order to further expand my understanding of systemic racism and inequality. I have a particular interest in the application of historical, sociological, and anthropological perspectives on the field of mental health and psychology. Some of my personal interests that play a role in my therapy include nature and the outdoors, camping and hiking, fantasy and sci-fi stories, video games, obstacle-course racing, and philosophy.
