About My Clients

You're suffering. It may be that most days you just feel down, or that you've been feeling more stressed or anxious than usual. Whatever the case may be, things haven't gotten much better— despite your best effort— and you're worried they never will. You want help, and you're taking the risk to find a new therapist. I help individuals like you struggling with depression, anxiety, relationships concerns, and trauma to find ways to begin to heal, feel better, and live more fulfilling lives.

My Background and Approach

If you’re like most humans, you didn’t exactly receive a primer on your emotions or mental health when you entered the world, despite being born with an excruciatingly intricate emotional system! And the emotional education you likely did receive— from our culture, from your family, from society— was likely unclear or confusing, if not harmful. And, at some point, things likely went from bad to worse. Chances are that you, not unlike most of us, have done the best you can with what you’ve learned along the way. And what you’ve learned has probably helped you in really important and adaptive ways! But at some point you’ve bumped up against its limitations, and you're now wanting for change. Therapy helps make that change possible by creating a safe and non-judgmental space with a trained expert in how minds work— and how we can work with them better. It’s this combination of genuine connection and scientific expertise that makes therapy such a powerful, transformative tool.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

“Caring for myself is not self-indulgence. It is self-preservation, and that is an act of political warfare." – Audre Lorde. Over the last ten years, I’ve had the pleasure of working with individuals, students, groups, and families in my roles as a therapist, educator, consultant, organizer, and activist, and have been privileged to work with individuals of nearly all racial-ethnic backgrounds, sexual and gender identities, family configurations, religious identities, socioeconomic backgrounds, careers, and ages. I have also received training in LGBTQ+ and QTPOC affirming therapy in particular and, as a queer therapist myself, have come to see being queer as not just about who I love but about what I’ve been called to do. It is my job to see you and your emotional wellness in its entirety and in context, and for me that means creating space to talk about how systemic oppression affects your emotional health— and what we together can do about it.
