About My Clients

I see individuals, ages preteen to adult. I work with people who have had various sorts of trauma, big or small, those who deal with anxiety, depression, stress or overwhelm, parenting, school or work difficulties, relationship issues, and those who are just wondering why things are so hard or they are so angry. I love working with people, so whether you are looking to deal with things in the moment, need help with coping skills and regulation, or want to explore the past, I am here to help.

My Background and Approach

I bring a variety of life experiences with me; from being a military spouse, a parent, and a transplant to Texas to being a certified yoga teacher. I enjoy connecting with you on an individual level. My aim is to meet you where you are at and help you move in the direction you want to go. I will offer different coping skills and techniques to help meet your needs. I utilize a mindfulness based cognitive therapy approach. The mindfulness part can help you learn to communicate calm to your body and to be more fully present in your life. The cognitive part can help you learn to make your thoughts work for you. I hope to help you learn to respond in any situation in the way you prefer, rather than just to react blindly to things that happen to you. It is time for you to be in control of how you want your life to be.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I am open to all client beliefs and identities. Counseling with me is a judgement free process and supportive environment. I offer a place to heal without fear or stigma around your point of view, political ideas, religion, or culture. Each person is the expert on their own life. I believe it is never too late to make positive changes, big or small. I changed careers mid-life and am still learning how to heal from inter-generational trauma and continue the work to break those cycles. I believe that learning to communicate with our nervous systems in a calm and direct manner can help lead to healing. I am a previous SPCA volunteer. I am excited to work with Zen the Therapy Cat in the practice's office, who may be available to meet with you upon request. I am EMDR trained. I can incorporate the powerful benefits of EMDR into your sessions or can utilize it as the main focus of your therapy. You will always be the decision maker for what feels right and comfortable to you.
