About My Clients

Our journey through life is complex and for every person, will come with many successes, triumphs, joys, and pleasures as well as challenges, concerns, and problems. I believe it is important to view the whole person, within the context of their relationships, family, community and society to gain a better understanding of all that is helpful or unhelpful along this journey.

My Background and Approach

I completed a Masters and Doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy from Alliant International University and completed a year certificate for Narrative Therapy with the Dulwich Center in Adelaide Australia. Throughout my career, I have been in a process of unlearning, shedding social prescriptions for how one should be and engaging clients to consider what social factors are contributing to the problems they face. I have been honored to support the journey for many children, adolescents, college students, parents, and adults faced with challenges and concerns related to learning differences, school or work struggles, social or relational challenges, sensory processing differences, anxiety, depression, and the process of developing an identity that one can be proud of. I have worked alongside autistic individuals since 2000, am Neurodiversity-affirming, gender-affirming and a member of LGBTQ+ community.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Therapy can look very different depending on age, communication, & processing abilities/style/preference, as well as challenges & concerns you are facing at any given point in time. Many of my clients tell me that the way I engage them is quite different than other therapists as I am always considering neurotype in order to render therapy accessible. My approach often includes a focus on identity development aligning with your preferences, which can be approached in a range of creative ways. At the same time, it is important to be aware of the social expectations, norms and histories that pull us away from or create barriers to accessing and living our preferences and I will stand as an ally with you against the harmful forces that exist and impact you/us. I am interested in supporting you to find the knowledge and skills you already hold and those that are still emerging. I would love to speak with you more if you want to know more about what therapy might look like for you.
