About My Clients

I have experience working with adults and adolescents on issues such as anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship issues, and trauma. My forensic background has provided me with additional skills to work with individuals affected by systemic inequality. Although I have experience working with resistant clients, my passion is working with individuals who are open minded and hoping to grow. My goal in treatment is to help clients identify their negative thoughts and behavioral patterns.

My Background and Approach

I earned my Master of Forensic Psychology degree from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. The forensic component of my degree has given me the opportunity to work with individuals exposed to trauma and difficult family situations. I also have training and practice working with individuals who experience anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and difficult life transitions. I primarily use evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy. I also incorporate somatic approaches into my work when beneficial. I recognize that identity shapes our experience, and I am familiar working with underserved and underprivileged populations. Outside of work, I enjoy being outdoors and trying new restaurants. I am passionate about caring for my 5-pound pup, and you can always find me reading a mystery thriller.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I decided to become a counselor after taking a Psychology and Law class that highlighted the systemic inequality often faced by those involved in the justice system. Being a first-generation student also helped me to identify ways in which my privilege and disadvantages shaped my experience. It is my goal to provide others who have experienced disadvantages and prejudice with the care they deserve. I believe in creating a therapeutic environment where my client can develop a sense of trust. I also acknowledge that our past can influence our current thoughts and behaviors. I enjoy helping clients make connections to their past in order to create a healthy, satisfying future.
