Anxiety is becoming more and more prevalent in our society. Life just keeps speeding up along with the larger role that social media is playing. We can find ourselves constantly dwelling on events, comparing ourselves to others, and replaying the "what ifs." Worry can become so pervasive in our lives that it keeps us from living our lives fully. My focus with clients is on addressing the negative thoughts we are having and reframing them into more positive and realistic thoughts.
When we are depressed it can feel like we are alone or that no one knows what we are going through. We can continue to replay negative thoughts in our head and without feedback, we assume they are true. Depression can be very debilitating and while it might feel like there is is no hope, with the help of a therapist, our outlook can change and our mood can improve. My focus is on helping you feel heard, understood and supported. We will also address and challenge negative thoughts.
Adolescence is challenging for so many of us. So many changes are happening both internally and externally. These changes can lead us to feel self-conscious, insecure, or overwhelmed. These normal changes and challenges can also trigger previous concerns and issues. My focus with adolescents is building confidence and resilience. We discuss ways of gaining coping skills and building self-esteem. At the core is how we view things and what we tell ourselves.
