About My Clients
Let's talk about the swirling thoughts that wake you up in the middle of the night. All those what-ifs that dance around your mind. The self-doubt, and negative messages you've come to believe about yourself. The worries about things that feel like burdens on your chest, making it difficult to even breathe. I get it! Anxiety is that frenemy, that comes around to taunt you and mess with your mind at the most inopportune times. Let's talk about ways to kick anxiety to the curb.
My Background and Approach
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who understands the complex systems we are all a part of. As individuals, we have our unique internal systems. We are the sum of our parts. We store the good times and the traumatic times all tucked away inside us, until some part of us gets triggered by something in our day, and our parts go into protection-mode, often causing even more distress. Trauma response has been activated, and now, we have negative thoughts, worry, and that heavy burden to deal with. I encourage my patients to take a thoughtful and intentional look at the good and bad situations that have influenced how they cope with daily struggles in their relationships, workplace, families, friendships, and inner space. We set reasonable goals for treatment to focus our work toward healing, growth and change. I meet you where you are, with a compassion and willingness to understand you and your story.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe we all have a story to tell, and inner burdens that hide behind the over-achievements, busy lifestyle, constant smile that we put out to the world to see. I am deeply concerned about the social climate we live in, where being loud, stepping over others, and resorting to violence as the answer has become all too common. Like many, I'm sick and tired of feeling sick and tired of what I see in the news. I believe we are the change, and it's up to us to use our voices and our platforms for calling attention to the things that really matter. As a licensed mental health provider, I am doing whatever I can to break through the stigmas surrounding mental health. Mental health IS health, and we all deserve to be treated with kindness and respect when it comes to our emotional and mental wellbeing. I'm trying to do my part to help with that.
