Solution focused therapy is a type of talk therapy where the primary focus is on finding solutions to problems. Unlike many other therapy types, solution focused therapy tends not to involve pulling apart the detail of the problem, or understanding the underlying issues that led to the formation of the problem. Rather, solution focused therapy is a short-term intervention. It aims to rapidly generate workable solutions, and thus relieve clients of distress quickly.
CBT is based on the understanding that our emotional experiences are directly related to our thoughts, beliefs, and actions – and therefore, it is possible to change our emotional experiences by examining and altering our thoughts and behaviors.
Somatic psychotherapy is a body-centered approach to healing, concerned with the relationship between the mind and body in relation to past experiences. To help people heal from trauma, somatic psychotherapy incorporates the narrative aspect of therapy with observing body movements. By becoming more aware of the body and its response to past trauma, individuals learn to sense and disrupt habitual patterns, release emotions, and move on.
