Anxiety can be expressed in having difficulty concentrating on tasks and conversations or suddenly not having the confidence to do something that has been easy in the past. Anxiety may even relate to attempting something new. Taking a risk financially or perhaps facing failure can keep even the strongest person from moving forward. If is involved, it just adds to the fear or lack of motivation. Alcohol and /or drugs are often used to relieve anxiety but are not addressing the root cause.

Family counseling opens up communication about feelings or undisclosed thoughts, helps families learn new skills to communicate more clearly, and helps members of the family see the other’s perspectives to find peaceful solutions. In the counseling sessions, each individual learns and can practice communication skills to stay calm and listen to each other. In the beginning, the family therapist may have to be the person ensuring everyone is able to express their concerns and offer solutions.

Therapy issues can help an individual, couple or family develop a better understanding of their personal strengths and desires; consider solutions to overcome challenges; and consider ways to approach a circumstance professionally and yet powerfully. Counseling can help access stress caused by work , environment, and practice skills to handle and reduce stress. Family Therapy can bring together those who work on relationship issues, set boundaries, and develop understanding if necessary.

Family therapy or counseling can be used in addition to individual therapy. The goal is to improve relationships by communicating with each other and learning how to resolve conflicts. Families are systems and sometimes the only way to really address family issues or relationship issues is to be in counseling with each other to communicate and create solutions. There are times when the family may need to meet in subsets because of age but we are always considering the family system.

Hypnosis used with talk therapy is very effective and puts clients in control of changing their thoughts and behaviors. We work together to understand the circumstances that led to fear and anxiety or lack of confidence, understand the incredible power of their own mind, and allow it to use its ability to serve them in much better ways. Hypnosis is fun and most people enjoy allowing relaxation, a calming voice, and their imagination to create transformation.
