About My Clients
I see my clients as courageous as they take this monumental step toward creating a new life for themselves. I work with clients who are transitioning from inpatient programs to outpatient programs and those who need a little external support as they get back to daily life. I facilitated intensive outpatient support groups for five years prior to going into private practice. My goal is to ensure that each client receives the best and most effective support on their journey toward recovery.
My Background and Approach
My goal in therapy is to assist clients in identifying strengths and skills to motivate them and allow them to be lifted up by focusing on the positive rather than being weighed down by negative thoughts and chatter. I work to help clients appreciate themselves and feel comfortable in their own skin, which includes minimizing or eliminating distress and stressors that affect relationships and daily life. My process includes motivational interviewing (MI). I believe people are more than one dimension and balance in all areas of life is needed for homeostasis, which means body, mind, and spirit work. Therefore, I address all of these areas when considering goals. Homework, individual work, and group work all play parts in the path to a healthy balance.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My core values are caring for others, continuous improvement, and self-discovery, which translate very well into working with others to achieve self-awareness and a comfortable work-life balance.
