About My Clients

Perhaps you’ve found yourself on my page because you feel alone, unhappy and trapped. Your mood may be dark – oscillating between anxiety, irritability and depression. You may find yourself unsatisfied in relationships – either ashamed of how you act or angered by how little others seem to understand you. Perhaps, you blame yourself for allowing your life to get to this point. But self-attack doesn’t help – in fact, it only makes us feel worse. Counseling with me can help relieve your suffering.

My Background and Approach

My work as a therapist is to help you gain separation from your self-attack and shame and to unlock your own innate sense of hope. With care and compassion, I help you understand why you find yourself caught in patterns of unhappiness and uneasiness. Anxiety, depression and isolation are all important messengers – denying them only makes them grow stronger – so we learn to carefully listen to their wisdom. Understanding and lifting your mood requires a trusting alliance between you and me, so it is my utmost priority to build a compassionate and caring relationship with you. Through this alliance we will dive deeply into your mind and unlock a life that is rich with vitality and connection. Counseling can help, allow me the privilege of serving you.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

As a psychotherapist, I seek to integrate my own experiences and background into my work as Counselor. I was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas and spent time outdoors hunting and fishing in the Hill Country as well as playing soccer. Through school jazz band and garage bands with my friends, I developed a love of music. I attended the College of Santa Fe in New Mexico where I received a B.A. in Music. For 10 years post-college, I worked in Santa Fe and Austin as an audio engineer for concerts and theater as well as in the recording studio. During that time, I also played bass and sang in rock bands. After a 2-year detour into nursing college, my own transformative therapy propelled me to gain my M.A. in Counseling from St. Edward's University so I could become a psychotherapist. Since then, I've developed specific interests in group therapy, developmental trauma therapy, and attachment theory.
