About My Clients
You may be considering therapy because you feel stuck or dissatisfied with some parts of your life. I am deeply invested in creating a therapeutic relationship that balances safety and connection with appropriate challenge.
My Background and Approach
You can count on careful attention to your inner world as we explore the concerns that trouble you. I am genuine, warm, and collaborative. During my 15 years on clinical staff at UW I had the privilege of working with students from diverse backgrounds. I try to understand my client’s unique lived experience by being curious about their various identities including family, race and cultural backgrounds. Including identity exploration (e.g. sexual orientation, gender, religion). Couples therapy. I support the couple to navigate difficult emotions that are often times beneath the self-protection of anger and withdraw. When a couple can identify and express their more vulnerable emotions and the partner can do their best to show empathy and understanding, this moves the couple to create the foundation of trust and emotional intimacy.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As someone who believes in the healing power of therapy, I absolutely believe that therapy will lead to more effective coping skills, a healthier relationship with your difficult emotions and for you to feel more connected to those close to you.
