Our lives and our roles, responsibilities, difficulties, and conflicts are constantly changing. Each new stage presents new challenges, some of which are more difficult to navigate than others. During times of change, it is easy to lose yourself in all the chaos and feel like you have no control over your life. Even wonderful and good transitions can come with enormous stress and feel uncomfortable.

The journey to motherhood is not always easy or straightforward. Perhaps you anticipated you would get pregnant quickly because your mother or your best friend did? You may feel deceived at the picture-perfect narration of quick positive pregnancy tests followed by happy, healthy babies 9 months later. While there are many primary and secondary causes for infertility and many options for medical support, the journey can be very difficult.

miscarriage is the loss of a pregnancy before 24 weeks. Miscarriages are very common; they are also very traumatic. From the moment a woman takes a pregnancy test and sees the two parallel lines, hopes and dreams for her future baby are born. When the pregnancy is suddenly over, there is often a grief reaction. Sometimes this grief reaction can be severe and lead to more complex problems such as depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress.

Therapy is a space that is created with a professional. In this space, there is a safe exploration of the present and past for the client to gain more insight and awareness that will help move through any difficulties the client is facing. Therapy is a journey. It requires openness, trust, and communication. There are different modalities of therapy.

Cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy: this therapy is usually time-limited psychotherapy that lasts from 3-12 months. Usually, sessions are weekly with a specific goal to be reached by the end of treatment. The focus of cognitive behavioral therapy is to focus on negative thoughts and thought distortions that give rise to and perpetuate negative feelings.
